Sean Mendelson discusses two exciting releases from Lee Mendelson Film Productions:

The Excusive Release of the Vince Guaraldi Soundtracks to the classic PEANUTS® specials “IT’S ARBOR DAY, CHARLIE BROWN”&“CHARLIE BROWN’S ALL STARS!”

A 10” Clear Baseball 45 RPM LP of “It’s Arbor Day, Charlie Brown” (Available March 20th 2026) & A 12” Brown die-cut glove shaped 45 RPM LP of “Charlie Brown’s All Stars!” (Available April 18, 2026 only at participating Record Store Day Stores)

This release includes the complete scores celebrating the 50th and 60th anniversaries of the specials on two discs (but in one fun pvc gatefold package). These albums feature the music that bookends the first 10 years of Peanuts® specials, including the final recordings from the jazz genius Vince Guaraldi from the day he died. 45 RPM Clear 10″ “baseball” LP for “Arbor Day” and die-cut glove shaped 45 RPM LP for “All Stars” together in a gatefold PVC package to celebrate these two beloved Peanuts® specials.

“Charlie Brown’s All Stars!” was the second Peanuts® primetime special following “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” and aired June 8, 1966. Composed by Guaraldi and performed by the Vince Guaraldi Sextet – Guaraldi (piano), Eugene “Puzzy” Firth (bass), Eddie Duran (guitar), John Coppola and Frank Snow – (trumpet), and Lee Charlton (drums) – this recording contains cues from the special mixed down to 7 tracks for this presentation.

“It’s Arbor Day, Charlie Brown” was the 15th and final Peanuts® special Guaraldi composed and performed the soundtracks for. Guaraldi passed away on February 6, 1976, the day he recorded this wonderful music, at the age of 47. The Vince Guaraldi Trio features Seward McCain – bass, and Jim Zimmerman – drums, who were with Guaraldi when he passed away in Menlo Park CA. The special aired several weeks later on March 16 on CBS.

Both specials were written by Charles Schulz and produced by Bill Melendez and Lee Mendelson. “Arbor Day” was directed by Phil Roman and Melendez and “All Stars” was directed by Melendez.
