An inmate who died at a hospital last spring after collapsing at Las Colinas women’s jail in Santee succumbed to a drug overdose, authorities said Wednesday.

Deputies making routine rounds at the Riverview Parkway detention center found Callen Lines, 31, unresponsive in her cell at about 7:30 p.m. May 12, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office. Paramedics took Lines to a hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead shortly after arrival.

Postmortem examinations have determined that Lines died of an accidental overdose of fentanyl and methamphetamine, sheriff’s Lt. Juan Marquez said.

Lines, a resident of San Diego County, had been in jail for one day following her arrest on suspicion of theft-related charges and resisting a peace officer.
