What Thursday's lightning storm looked like in San Diego area

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Some San Diegans saw the night sky light up Thursday night.

Tropical Storm Mario's remnants led to warm and muggy weather that produced scattered showers and pop-up thunderstorms in parts of San Diego County.

The lightning count in San Diego County was 2,861, the National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, Thursday evening. The cloud-to-ground count, which is lightning that strikes the Earth's surface, was 108.

San Bernardino County recorded the highest lightning count at 4,061, while Riverside County had the lowest lightning count at 2,861, per NWS San Diego.

With the leftovers of Tropical Storm Mario moving out of the area, expect a dry and warm weekend.
