SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Legoland California has released a first look at its new indoor roller coaster ahead of its 2026 opening.

The new space-themed indoor roller coaster -- Galacticoaster -- will launch families in a custom Lego brick spacecraft through cosmic scenes of the LEGO galaxy inside a 30,000 square-foot building in Legoland's Fun Town.

The coaster has been under construction for more than a year by a crew of over 500 builders from around the world. Video released by Legoland on Monday (above) shows some of the nearly 1,500 feet of track being installed.

The park's first roller coaster in more than 20 years and first-ever indoor roller coaster is set to open inside a new, immersive space-themed land in early 2026. An exact opening date has not yet been announced.

The indoor coaster will blast off from the Legoland Spaceport 886 launchpad, named in homage of one of the original LEGO Space Buggy sets, #886.

“Galacticoaster is going to launch LEGOLAND California into a whole new galaxy of fun,” said Flora Liu, Senior Project Manager at Merlin Magic Making. “It’s our first coaster here in more than 20 years and part of Merlin’s largest-ever LEGOLAND investment – $90 million to bring Galacticoaster to both LEGOLAND California and LEGOLAND Florida. We’ve pulled inspiration from LEGO sets families have loved for decades, while layering in modern technology to create the most immersive and personalized coaster experience yet.”

The space land will have two cosmic rides in addition to the indoor roller coaster, a junior astronaut LEGO training zone for the toddlers to play, along with “galactic grub and gear” where there will be food, drinks and a themed retail shop with space souvenirs, according to the website.

In addition to the upcoming space land, the LEGO brand has been busy with collabs with Nike as they drop the Nike Air Max Dn x LEGO Collection, the Nike Dunk Low x LEGO Collection, and a line of apparel and accessories, along with the LEGO Nike Dunk set.
