VOSD Podcast: Advocates Collect Signatures for Potential Tax Increase

First, they unpacked an unfortunate misprint in The San Diego Union-Tribune and reflected on the bigger issue at hand: the shrinking size of the San Diego’s news media ecosystem.

Then, an update on an effort to collect signatures in support of a half-cent, countywide sales tax increase for the November 2026 ballot.

On that sales tax: Our Lisa Halverstadt shared the news that a coalition of labor unions and childcare advocates will embark on the difficult effort to collect 140,000 signatures to qualify for the November 2026 ballot. Scott Lewis and the crew break it down.
