USA Basketball coming to Oceanside for 2027 FIBA Men's World Cup qualifiers

OCEANSIDE, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Basketball players from around the world will be making a stop in the San Diego area to compete in the FIBA (International Basketball Federation) Men's World Cup qualifiers next year.

The U.S. Men's basketball team will host two games at Frontwave Arena in Oceanside on Feb. 26, 2026 against Dominican Republic and Mexico on March 1, 2026, USA Basketball said in a news release Thursday.

“It’s an honor to host USA Basketball here in Oceanside,” said Sean Bowers, Frontwave Arena executive vice president of Sports Management. “Frontwave Arena was built to bring world-class sports and entertainment to North County, and there’s no better example than seeing the USA compete on our court in front of local fans.”

The USA Men will first host training camp in Oceanside. They will then face off against Dominican Republic on Feb. 26 at 7 p.m. and Mexico on March 1 at 4 p.m.

The 2027 FIBA World Cup Qualifying begins later this month with one game against Nicaragua in Managua on Nov. 29 and another in College Park, Georgia, on Dec. 1.

Six World Cup Qualifying windows will feature 80 national teams competing for one of 32 berths to the 2027 FIBA Men’s World Cup in Doha, Qatar, from November 2025 to March 2027.

The USA Men will be mostly comprised of players from the NBA G League during the qualifying games.

Tickets are now on sale at USAB.com/tickets with prices starting as low as $20 for general admission.

USA Men's Basketball have been winners of two of the last four FIBA World Cups (2010, 2014).
