Super Girl Surf Pro brings elite surfers, family-friendly fun to Oceanside

OCEANSIDE, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) -- The largest all women’s surf festival, the Super Girl Surf Pro, is set to bring back top contenders to the Oceanside Pier, alongside free concerts and other female-focused, family-friendly elements.

ASA Entertainment has organized the Super Girl Festival Series since 2007 as part of a series of large-scale women's sports, music and lifestyle events designed to empower, uplift and inspire females. The annual events draw nearly 250,000 attendees and 1,200 hours of television coverage.

Since 2012, the Super Girl Surf Pro has offered pivotal World Surf Leage (WSL) Qualifying Series (QS) points towards the ultimate goal of qualifying for the Championship Tour (CT). It gives rising talent an opportunity to challenge proven elite and former CT competitors, all while inspiring the next wave of female surfers.

Now in its 18th year as a surf competition, the event has evolved into a full-scale festival. In addition to some of the world’s best surfing, it will also feature 600 women participating in 10 different sporting events from BMX to beach volleyball. Plus, the festival village will host 17 free live concerts, fitness and wellness classes, celebrity speakers and panels, local food tents, mentorship programs and more.

The lineup of concerts includes headline performances by famed artists such as Lupe Fiasco, Plain White T’s, Surfer Girl and Sublime’s lead singer Jakob Nowell under the stage name Jacobs Castle. Plus, powerful female artists, including Oceanside’s Pearl, will take the stage.

The competition draws contenders from both North America and Hawai’i/Tahiti Nui to compete for 4,000 points toward their respective regions. This is North America’s fourth stop of the 2025/2026 QS season and Hawai’i/Tahiti Nui’s second.

Over the years, the Super Girl Surf Pro has crowned renowned athletes such as four-time World Champion Carissa Moore, 2024 World Champion Caitlin Simmers, former CT icon Coco Ho and many more over its history.

This year, a heavily contested field will once again take over the lineup. Ella McCaffray (USA) and Aelan Vaast (FRA) lead the rankings heading into Oceanside. Talent joining them includes defending event victor Eden Walla from San Clemente and Encinitas' Alyssa Spencer, former Super Girl winner on both coasts.

“It’s inspiring to see such a powerful blend of competition, culture, and community coming together beyond the top-notch surfing,” CEO of ASA Entertainment Rick Bratman told WSL. “Having so many people and brands support Super Girl’s mission around empowering and creating opportunities for women is incredibly impactful. The lineup of influential female athletes, creators, artists, musicians, instructors, speakers, and advocates committed to Super Girl is absolutely amazing.”

The Super Girl Surf Pro holds a competition beginning Friday, Sept. 19 through Sunday, Sept. 21. Once called on, the event will be broadcast live on worldsurfleague.com and the free WSL app beginning Saturday, Sept. 20.
