SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- It has been almost a year since former San Diego Wave FC soccer star Alex Morgan retired from the sport.

On Sunday, Sept. 7, the team will honor the ex-Wave FC captain by retiring her jersey No. 13. following their match against the Houston Dash at Snapdragon Stadium.

Morgan, who is San Diego’s all-time leading scorer with 28 goals across all competitions, will be the first-ever Wave FC player to have her jersey retired.  

The first 10,000 fans will receive a commemorative pink headband in honor of the iconic pink pre-wrap Alex made famous during her career.  

Other activities to expect on matchday on the East Lawn outside of Snapdragon Stadium  include a Fan Fest with live music, themed Alex Morgan activities, poster giveaways and a photo opportunity with a “13” floral display.

Special Alex Morgan-themed merchandise will be available for purchase at all retail locations while supplies last.

During halftime, Jessica Haas, America’s first female award-winning speed painter, will create a live Alex Morgan-inspired artwork in under 10 minutes that will be auctioned to benefit the Alex Morgan Foundation.

After the match, the jersey retirement ceremony will be held for Morgan with tribute videos celebrating her career, a special guest intro speaker and a speech from Alex Morgan herself, as well as the unveiling of her jersey No. 13 inside Snapdragon Stadium.

Kickoff for the match starts at 5:30 p.m., while parking lots and gates open at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., respectively.
