Retiring Times journalists Ken and Chris Stone honored by Congress delegation

Two of Times of San Diego’s founding team of journalists were honored by the San Diego congressional delegation on Wednesday for their 50 years of work in the profession.
A proclamation drafted by Rep. Mike Levin said Ken and Chris Stone’s “contributions to local journalism have been vital for fostering civic engagement and lifting the voices of San Diegans.”
The proclamation was signed by Levin and Reps. Sara Jacobs, Scott Peters and Juan Vargas.
The husband-and-wife duo, reporter and editor Ken, and photographer Chris, retired from daily journalism in October. The La Mesa residents were part of the initial team when Times of San Diego was launched in March 2014.
The two have contributed thousands of articles and photos to Times of San Diego over the past 11 years.
The proclamation, which was presented to the Stones at Levin’s office in Carlsbad, noted the couple’s “immeasurable contributions to local journalism” and their numerous awards from professional organizations.
