A power outage left thousands of homes and businesses without electrical service Monday across neighborhoods just east of downtown San Diego.

The blackout struck shortly after 2 p.m., knocking out power to a total of 7,152 San Diego Gas & Electric customers in Lincoln Park, Logan Heights and Mountain View, the power company reported.

Power was expected to be restored to all the affected addresses by late afternoon, according to SDG&E.

The cause of the outage was under investigation, according to the utility.
