Northeast monsoon to bring rain over three areas amid storm In-Fa, says PAGASA
The northeast monsoon, locally known as Amihan, is expected to bring rains over three areas in Luzon, while severe tropical storm In-Fa is being monitored, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Monday.
Areas such as the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Cagayan Valley may experience cloudy skies with isolated rains due to the northeast monsoon in the next 24 hours, PAGASA said in its 5:00 a.m. press briefing.
The bureau said no significant impact is expected in the affected areas.
In Metro Manila and the rest of the country, generally fair and hot weather is expected, with chances of localized thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.
PAGASA said 16 areas are projected to experience danger-level heat index on Monday, with 43 degrees Celsius being the highest expected temperature, according to the agency’s heat index forecast.
Meanwhile, PAGASA is still monitoring severe tropical storm In-Fa, which was located 1,870 kilometers east of Extreme Northern Luzon as of 3:00 a.m.
“It is not expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility and it is not expected to directly affect any parts of the country,” PAGASA weather specialist Veronica C. Torres said in Filipino during the press briefing.
In-Fa was packing maximum sustained winds of 110 kilometers per hour (kph) and gusts of up to 135 kph. — Edg Adrian A. Eva
