Motorcyclist killed in 'intentional' crash on I-805 identified

CHULA VISTA, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Authorities identified on Friday the motorcyclist who was killed when a car "intentionally drove" into him on I-805 in Chula Vista earlier this week.

Jorge Uribe, 53, was identified as the deceased in Monday's crash, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office. His death was ruled a homicide.

The crash occurred around 8:03 p.m. in the southbound lanes of I-805 near Telegraph Canyon Road.

On Wednesday, California Highway Patrol said that the driver of a red Tesla drove at a “high rate of speed” in the HOV lane and “intentionally drove into the rear” of the BMW motorcycle ridden by Uribe.

The Tesla, driven by a 22-year-old man from San Diego, then struck a pickup truck that had six people inside. All of the occupants in the pickup truck were taken to hospitals.

The Tesla ended up on its side, while the driver ran from authorities before being apprehended.

He faces several felony charges, including murder, the CHP said.
