SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- The cast of "Peacemaker" and writer and director James Gunn were at San Diego Comic-Con to preview "Peacemaker" Season 2 with a Hall H panel, and John Cena and Gunn made a surprise appearance on a balcony to a crowd below.

Season 2 of the HBO Max series "Peacemaker," from DC Studios and Warner Bros. Television, debuts on August 21.

The Saturday afternoon DC Studios Hall H panel was one of the biggest of the weekend as Marvel Studios was notably absent from Hall H this year, with the line wrapping all the way behind the convention center past the "King of the Hill" outside activation along San Diego Bay.

James Gunn (co-head of DC Studios, executive producer, writer, director) and actors John Cena (Peacemaker, executive producer), Danielle Brooks (Adebayo), Jennifer Holland (Harcourt), Freddie Stroma (Vigilante), Steve Agee (Economos), Frank Grillo (Rick Flag Sr.), Sol Rodriguez (Sasha Bordeaux), and Tim Meadows (Langston Fleury), were on hand for the panel to give fans a sneak peek of the trailer for the new season.

Fans have been waiting since 2022 for the next season, and DC dropped the trailer for everyone else just after the Comic-Con debut.

The trailer shows Chris Smith/Peacemaker, and of course Eagly, as he goes to a parallel dimension where Harcourt is in love with him, while Frank Grillo’s Rick Flag Sr (from "Superman") looks to close the portal while facing off with Peacemaker.

Gunn’s "Superman" leads into "Peacemaker" season 2 with that movie’s supporting characters Green Lantern/Guy Gardner (Nathan Fillion), Hawkgirl/Kendra Saunders (Isabel Merced) and Maxwell Lord (Sean Gunn).

In addition to the new trailer, Deadline reports Hall H attendees got to see part of the movie showing Harcourt beating up guys in a bar after they tried to hit on her.

During the 6,500 person Hall H panel, Gunn also announced Foxy Shazam will sing the official theme "Oh Lord" of the new season of "Peacemaker" before the Cincinnati, Ohio rock band performed the theme song for a cheering crowd.

In a surprise appearance in full Peacemaker costume, Cena took over a convention center balcony with Gunn to a cheering crowd standing below. Watch here.

"We're happy to be here. This is like my home away from home," Gunn said. "I've been to almost every single Comic-Con over the years. I'm happy as can be here, thank you all for going to see 'Superman,' starting out the DCU with a bang. And I really, really can't wait for you guys to see what I have been looking forward to for months, which is this man (Cena) acting his butt off in 'Peacemaker.'"

"I want to apologize to the people directly below me that have a pretty unorthodox view of my body," Cena joked to start out. "And I just want to say as everyone is pouring in from across the streets from every angle, we are so happy and grateful for you to be here. 'Peacemaker' season 2 is right around the corner. This is our kick off for all this, and we couldn't be happier and more excited to do it in front of you guys at Comic-Con."

Then they threw out "Peacemaker" hats with some "mild" profanity on them to the crowd.
