ITCZ brings rain over Visayas, Mindanao
The Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) is expected to bring rains over the Visayas and Mindanao, heightening the risk of flooding and landslides, according to PAGASA on Wednesday.
The country’s two major islands may experience scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the ITCZ in the next 24 hours, according to PAGASA’s 4:00 a.m. weather advisory.
Meanwhile, the northeasterly windflow may bring isolated light rains over the Ilocos Region, the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), and Cagayan Valley, with no significant impact expected.
Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon could experience localized thunderstorms, posing a risk of flooding and landslides during severe thunderstorms.
PAGASA is also monitoring a tropical depression outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), located 2,245 kilometers east of extreme Northern Luzon as of 8:00 a.m.
The tropical depression has maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 55 kph. PAGASA said that due to its distance, it is not expected to directly affect the country or enter PAR. — Edg Adrian A. Eva
