Investigation of 2025 assault ends with 10 arrests, including 9 Navy sailors

Authorities swept through five locations this week, including two San Diego naval bases, and arrested multiple Navy sailors suspected in a 2025 assault at a house party that left a victim with serious injuries.
Deputies, with assistance from the U.S Naval Criminal Investigative Service, coordinated a joint operation on Tuesday stemming from the assault in the 14000 block of Proctor Valley Road in Jamul, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were notified while arriving at the scene on May 3, 2025 that several suspects were armed with firearms and that an assault victim was seeking medical attention at a nearby fire station.
The responding deputies went to the station and found the victim bleeding profusely from the head and face. The person, who told deputies the injuries were caused by being pistol-whipped, was sent to a hospital for treatment.
A preliminary investigation determined that of the 10 suspects who were allegedly involved in the assault, nine were enlisted in the U.S. Navy. “Many” also were allegedly affiliated with criminal street gangs, according to sheriff’s officials, who did not state a specific number.
Detectives contacted officials from NCIS, who began collaborating with the sheriff’s office to conduct the investigation.
A joint operation on Tuesday led to arrests at Naval Air Station North Island, Naval Base San Diego, Naval Medical Center San Diego, Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach, and a San Diego residence. All 10 suspects were taken into custody on felony charges related to the alleged assault, along with weapons possession counts. They were booked into San Diego Central Jail.
Investigators recovered five firearms and $20,000 in cash during the operation, which included deputies and personnel from NCIS, the East County Gang Task Force, San Diego Fugitive Task Force and Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Detail.
