SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Former Padres infielder Freddy Galvis has officially called it a career from Major League Baseball.

The 35-year-old Venezuelan took to Instagram on Friday, thanking friends, family, fans and the different organizations that gave him an opportunity.

"Lo que un día fue un sueño, se hizo realidad y ahora se termina," Galvis said in Spanish, which translates in English to "What once was a dream, has come true and now it ends."

Galvis played shortstop with the Padres for one year in 2018, recording 13 home runs and 67 RBIs.

He also was a member of the Philadelphia Phillies, Toronto Blue Jays, Cincinnati Reds and Baltimore Orioles from 2012-2021.
