First look at 'Tron: Ares' unveiled at San Diego Comic-Con
Disney Studios unveiled a first look at the third Tron film, "Tron: Ares," at San Diego Comic-Con.

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Hitting theatres Oct. 10, a first look at the third Tron film was unveiled by the cast and filmmakers at San Diego Comic-Con.
Disney Studios took over San Diego Comic-Con's Hall H for a Friday evening panel, with director Joachim Rønning, and cast Jeff Bridges, Jared Leto, Hasan Minhaj, Cameron Monaghan, Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith, Evan Peters, Arturo Castro, Gillian Anderson, and producer/creator Steven Lisberger.
Disney's “Tron: Ares” follows a "highly sophisticated Program, Ares, who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind’s first encounter with A.I. beings."
Moderated by Kevin Smith, the panel started with a laser-light show. "Did you see that entrance, that **** cost more than 'Clerks,'" Smith joked.
Comic-Con attendees saw a preview of the movie's light cycle chase scene, an extended first look at the Dillinger Grid, and an exclusive look at the music video “As Alive as You Need Me to Be,” performed by Nine Inch Nails.

“Ares’s journey is all about what it means and takes to be human. And trying to answer those questions is why I wanted to tell this story,” says Joachim Rønning. “I want to make movies for the big screen. That’s what I grew up with and what made me want to become a filmmaker. Cinema is my art form. And ‘TRON: Ares’ is just that: a full-blooded cinema experience. Myself, and hundreds of amazing craftspeople have worked our asses off for two years to make sure of that.”
In addition to the San Diego Comic-Con Hall H panel, lightcycle riders were spotted riding through the streets of downtown San Diego during Comic-Con.
This newest film is the third in the film series -- "Tron" (1982), "Tron: Legacy" (2010), and "Tron: Ares" (2025).
Disney’s “TRON: Ares” releases in theatres on Oct. 10, 2025.
