Enjoy a weekend of original art and free festivities at the Liberty Station Artwalk
The 20th annual Liberty Station Artwalk in San Diego is a free weekend event featuring 175 artists, music, food, and an interactive KidsWalk, with proceeds going to ArtReach San Diego to provide free visual art education for kids.

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI)-- Treat yourself to a fun, free weekend of food, music, and above all, original works of art with the San Diego Foundation Artwalk at Liberty Station, also known as the Liberty Station Artwalk, from Aug. 1-3, beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.
There will also be a "tickted preview pARTy" taking place Friday, Aug. 1, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., during which attendees have the opportunity to get a peek at the art ahead of the weekend crowd as well as mingle with the artists in an intimate setting.
Tickets for the Friday viewing are $28 apiece, while the event is open to the public for free Saturday and Sunday.
This year marks the 20th annual artwalk at Liberty Station, and the faces behind the colorful event are celebrating the anniversary in style with a plethora of original pieces ranging from paintings and ceramic art to sculptures and glasswork.
"The artwalk is always free over the weekend. Come down and enjoy 175 different artists all spread out here at Liberty Station," Curt Brooker, the Director of ArtWalk San Diego, said. "We have a ton of local artists, but then we have artists that come from all across the country."
The festivities will include music from an array of performers from various genres. There will also be several delicious food options for the public to enjoy, including West Coast Hot Chicken, Bella's Pizzeria and Mariposa Ice Cream. The food vendors are located in the southeast portion of the event, just behind the beer and wine garden.
While the food and drinks are enticing, perhaps the best part about the festivities is that all of the proceeds contribute to a good cause: igniting creativity in the youth.
Anna Laroque, the Advancement Manager at ArtReach, a nonprofit organization, partnered with ArtWalk to explain the process.
"All of this is going to be on display during the weekend, but it's also part of an online auction that we're having," Laroque said. "All the proceeds go back to our non-profit, where we provide free visual art education for kids all throughout San Diego County."

Speaking of which, kids also have their special area at the event, where adults are also allowed to unleash their inner creativity. The KidsWalk is open to all ages and has several interactive art experiences featuring community partners of the art world, including ArtReach San Diego and the San Diego Watercolor Society.
The different activities at the KidsWalk will include creating 3-D paper collages and decorating plant pots that are then taken home and watched as the seed grows.
Whether you're a child or an adult, the Liberty Station Artwalk offers fun for all!
