Eco-friendly food festival coming to San Diego

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Balboa Park will host San Diego's first ever sustainable food festival this weekend.

The San Diego Sustainable Food Festival will take place Saturday at the Presidents Way Lawn, located at Park Boulevard and Presidents Way, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Over 70 climate-conscious food, product and service vendors, as well as environmental groups will be in attendance.

Food options include everything from donuts, tacos, and spicy chick’n sandwiches to dumplings, curries, and sushi.

Other activities attendees can participate in include an herbalism workshop, a yoga class with the Move With Love Collective and learning about how to manage waste on the education stage.

There will also be cooking demonstrations on the education stage featuring Potato Cheese Flautas by Chef Francisco Morales and Shepherd’s Pie by Chef Martin Hall.

Bean art and the Healthy Eating Plate Challenge are available to those with children.

Admission to the event is free of charge.
