Coast Guard intercepts boat with 24 migrants that traveled into U.S. waters near San Diego

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- The U.S. Coast Guard stopped a boat off the San Diego coast carrying over two dozen suspected undocumented migrants of several nationalities.
A 40-foot sport fisher boat was intercepted by a crew from the Coast Guard Cutter Forrest Rednour (WPC 1129) just before 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, the Coast Guard reports.
The Coast Guard cutter was notified an unidentified boat was traveling toward U.S. waters and a crew intercepted the boat 20 miles southwest of Point Loma in San Diego, according to the Coast Guard.
There were 24 suspected undocumented migrants aboard; 20 claimed Mexican nationality, one claimed Canadian nationality, one claimed Argentinian nationality, one claimed Chilean nationality and one claimed Armenian nationality.
All 24 people and the boat were transported to Ballast Point in San Diego and transferred to another DHS agency for investigation.
