Casa Cornelia Law Center is set to host its annual La Mancha Awards on Oct. 23 at the University of San Diego’s Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice, honoring attorneys, law firms and community leaders whose pro bono work defends the rights of vulnerable immigrants.

This year’s theme, “Perseverance: The Journey Towards Justice,” highlights the persistence of those who stand up for due process amid the evolving immigration landscape, according to the organization.

Honorees include Distinguished Pro Bono Attorney of the Year Max DeWit, Esq., Mayer Brown LLP, Pro Bono Law Firm of the Year Cooley LLP, the Lucy Howell Humanitarian Award recipient Bishop Michael M. Pham, Pro Bono Publico Awards for 12 volunteer attorneys and Special Recognition Awards for eight non-attorney volunteers including interpreters and community partners.

The event raises funds for Casa Cornelia’s programs, which provide vital legal support to victims of human and civil rights violations.

Tickets are available through Oct. 10 at casacornelia.org/la-mancha-awards.
