The Building Industry Association of San Diego County announced it has appointed its next president and chief executive officer: Aimee Faucett.

Faucett is a well-known figure in local politics. She most recently served as president of Agenda Setting, her own business, providing strategic advice on policy. She served for years as chief of staff for former Mayor Kevin Faulconer and deputy chief of staff for former Mayor Jerry Sanders.

“I’m excited to work alongside BIA’s talented members and partners to strengthen our pro-housing coalition, stop policies that hurt the ability to build homes, and ensure BIA is leading the way with smart, proactive solutions,” Faucett said.

“Housing is at the core of our region’s biggest challenge: whether San Diego can be affordable or if San Diegans are going to be priced out of their own community,” she added.

“We need to bring back the sense of urgency around the housing crisis, because while progress has been made, the job isn’t done and we have to keep up the momentum.”

Aimee Faucett will succeed Lori Holt Pfeiler in the role beginning Dec. 15. The association offered thanks to Pfeiler for her years of leadership.

“Under her guidance, the organization strengthened its advocacy voice, deepened member engagement, and helped drive progress on housing policy across San Diego County,” the BIA said.

The Building Industry Association is a nonprofit trade association for professionals involved in the planning, design and construction of housing in the region.

Faucett was selected by the BIA Board of Directors.

“Aimee’s depth of experience and leadership across government, business, and advocacy make her perfectly suited to lead the BIA at this pivotal time,” said Brendan Hayes, BIA board chair. “She understands the challenges facing our industry, and will bring renewed urgency to addressing San Diego’s housing crisis.”

“I want to empower our members to educate the public and policymakers on what it really takes to address our housing emergency — and to fight back when new regulations drive costs even higher,” Faucett said.

“While small but loud opposition attempts to block new homes, we’re going to ensure there’s a strong, united voice fighting for doing the right thing. We will be unapologetic and unwavering as we work to create homes that San Diegans are counting on.”
