Brush fire in Rancho Bernardo prompts evacuation warning
The brush fire was spotted off Camino Del Norte and Bernardo Center Drive, with crews responding on the ground and from the air.

A hillside brush fire in Rancho Bernardo burned 12 acres, leading to an evacuation warning, but crews halted its spread, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
SDFD, on scene with multiple partner fire agencies, said at 4:35 p.m. that firefighters had stopped the blaze’s forward progress. About an hour later, police added, the evacuation warning had been lifted.
Flames first were seen off Camino Del Norte and Bernardo Center Drive around 2:30 p.m., according to the nonprofit fire reporting service Watch Duty, with helicopters responding along with ground crews.
SDFD, via social media, asked residents and motorists to “please avoid the area,” which is west of Interstate 15.
An evacuation warning had been issued for an area north of Bernardo Center Drive, south of Camino Del Norte at Camino San Bernardo, east of Dove Canyon Road at Camino San Bernardo and west of Bernardo Center Drive.
Westbound Camino Del Norte, though, remains closed at Bernardo Center Drive and Dove Canyon, according to the police. It is expected to stay closed through about 8:30 p.m.
