Bronze plaques are being stolen from local libraries
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Authorities are searching for a man suspected in a series of grand thefts at country libraries across San Diego County.
The San Diego County Sheriff's Office on Thursday released surveillance photos of the suspect described as a bald man, between 40 to 50 years old and wearing a dark-colored sweatshirt, gray shorts and dark-colored sneakers.
One of the incidents occurred on Oct. 17 around 11 p.m., when the suspect removed and stole a bronze plaque affixed to the exterior wall of the Imperial Beach Library in the 800 block of Imperial Beach Boulevard, according to authorities.
The stolen plaque, valued at approximately $4,500, was placed in the bed of the truck by the suspect in a white 2005-2010 Chevrolet Silverado, which then left the scene, per SDSO. The vehicle is described as a 2005-2010 Chevrolet Silverado, single-cab truck with a steel front bumper.

Similar crimes happened at libraries in Lemon Grove, Rancho San Diego, Alpine and 4S Ranch where bronze plaques were stolen. SDSO is trying to figure out if those incidents are related to the one in Imperial Beach.
Anyone with information on the suspect or his truck is asked to call the Imperial Beach Sheriff’s Substation at 619-498-2400.
