4 San Diego taco spots make Yelp's Top 100 list: See if your favorite shop made the roster

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- From birria and al pastor to the classic carne asada go-to, the plethora of taco options is endless throughout the United States and especially in California.
Yelp recently compiled its list of the Top 100 U.S. Taco Spots of 2025, and it's no surprise to San Diegians that a few local eateries cracked the lineup. The Golden State reaped the most spots, with 45, the highest number on the list among all states.
Here are the four San Diego spots that made the coveted list:
73. Roxy's Tacos: Located in the East Village community at 815 C St., Roxy's Tacos makes the list at No. 73. A cozy spot that offers both dine-in and takeout options, the menu provides plenty of pescatarian options for seafood lovers.
59. The Waves Taco Club: From offering three kinds of flavorful salsa to making fresh guacamole daily, The Waves Taco Club has become a popular Taco Tuesday destination in Downtown. Located at 916 Fifth Ave. in the Gaslamp District, the vibrant restaurant features wall paintings by local artists, as well as live music and events.
45. The Craft Tacos at SOVA: The first San Diego spot in the top 50 of this year's list, The Craft Tacos at SOVA has a Happy Hour Menu that is second to none among taco spots in the county. Located off Sorento Valley Road in the Torrey Hills area, serves up unique craft tacos, including the Baja Poke Taco and Bulgogi Taco.
13. Terrific Tacos: This taco-catering cart brings the most authentic Tijuana street taco experience to the streets of San Diego. From mouth-watering birria to sweet churro balls drenched in chocolate sauce for dessert, this family-operated business brings the taco fiesta to you.
While the top spot on the list did not belong to a San Diego eatery, our neighbors in North Hollywood claimed the No. 1 ranking with Birrieria Familia Castro, located in the San Fernando Valley.
Texas taco shops also made a notable showing on the list, with nine spots from the Lone Star State making it this year, thanks to the growing popularity of plant-based tacos, some of which are made from cactus.
