MarketInk: Prebys Foundation promotes Crystal Page to VP of communications

The Prebys Foundation — the largest independent private foundation in San Diego County — has promoted Crystal Page to vice president of communications.
She previously served at the Prebys Foundation as director of communications since 2023.
In her new role, Page will continue to guide communications strategies that support long-term, community-rooted solutions across the region, a statement said. Also, she will continue working across public, private and nonprofit sectors to advance collaborative, community-centered solutions that create lasting effects.
Since joining the Prebys Foundation, her work has elevated community voices, strengthened partnerships and helped shape narratives that promote belonging, opportunity and a more equitable San Diego, according to a statement.
“Page has played a key role in positioning communications as a central driver of the Foundation’s mission,” the statement said.
The Foundation invests in four program areas, including arts and culture, youth success, health and well-being and medical research.
“Crystal has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership, insight, and a deep understanding of this community,” said Grant Oliphant, the Prebys Foundation’s chief executive officer.
“She has turned strategic communications into a driving force for our work, weaving it into everything we do. Her vision keeps our communications grounded in our mission and helps us push forward toward a more vibrant San Diego County.”
Page has more than 16 years of experience managing strategic communications experience in both government and the private sector. Prior to joining the Prebys Foundation, she served as chief of staff for the San Diego County District 3 office, as deputy secretary of communications and external affairs for the California Labor & Workforce Development Agency and as communications director for the Service Employees International Union California State Council.
“I am honored to step into the role of vice president and continue leading the Foundation’s strategic communications to help build a San Diego where everyone feels seen, supported and connected to opportunity and creativity,” said Page, who also co-hosts the Prebys Foundation’s Stop & Talk podcast.
“Purposeful communications can reshape relationships, spark momentum and turn shared vision into breakthroughs that move our region forward. I’m motivated by what is possible when we work together.”
Page is active in the community serving on the boards of directors of Outdoor Outreach, a San Diego-based nonprofit which expands access to nature and outdoor experiences for young people, and the Narrative Initiative, a national organization which helps communities build narrative strategies that strengthen democracy and equity.
Magic 92.5’s Jagger and Kristi granting Christmas wishes — again
Husband-and-wife radio team Mark and Kristi Jagger, hosts of “Jagger and Kristi in the Morning” on XHRM-FM Magic 92.5, have begun their 15th annual “Christmas Wish” promotion.
The yearly promotion, which began in 2011, consists of listeners nominating someone they know who needs help. Self-nominations are not eligible and nominators cannot live in the same household as the person they’re nominating. Nominations can be submitted at www.magic925.com.
Throughout December, until Dec. 24, one listener will be notified around 7:15 a.m. each weekday that their Christmas wish — tailored to meet their needs — has been granted. Wishes typically include groceries and money for gas, rent, utilities and medical expenses. Additional freebies given to wish grantees include a Christmas tree, gifts for children and tickets to SeaWorld San Diego. The station began announcing this year’s wish recipients on Dec. 8.
A station statement said, “As we enter the New Year, we are still facing some of the highest price increases across the board due to inflation, adding stress and financial strain to even more families. That’s why we are more determined than ever to help as many families as possible through Christmas Wish 2025.”
“This is one of our favorite programs of the year,” Kristi told Times of San Diego. “We are hoping to help several families who are struggling with paying some of their bills, their rent and getting other badly-needed items.”
This year’s major sponsor is Altus Schools. Additional sponsors include SeaWorld San Diego, Chicken Charlie’s, Breakfast Republic, Barons Market, Pinery Christmas Trees, United Pacific Electronics, Epic Wings, San Diego Family Magazine and Gringas Catering.
The Jaggers have worked together as on-air personalities since 1996. They were married in 1997 and have been hosts of “Jagger and Kristi in the Morning” on Magic 92.5 since 2005.
“All year long we have been celebrating 20 years at Magic 92.5,” Kristi said. “Kind of crazy isn’t it.”
Local Media San Diego LLC operates Magic 92.5, along with XTRA-FM 91X, XHTZ-FM Z90.3 and KFBG-FM 100.7 BIG-FM.
San Diego County Fair Honored with Marketing Awards
The 22nd District Agricultural Association, the entity that operates the Del Mar Fairgrounds and produces the San Diego County Fair, recently received eight awards from the International Association of Fairs and Exposition for marketing communications and sponsorship efforts for the 2025 Fair.
Awards in communications categories included a promotional jobs poster, online advertisement for bands in town, a bus wrap for a Metropolitan Transit System bus and outdoor digital advertising at the North County Mall.
Awards in sponsorships categories included sponsor exposure for Toyota, in-kind trade sponsorship with Roma Pharmacies, sponsorship innovation with Kahoots pet stores and sponsor continuity with Albertsons and Vons grocery stores.
Overall, the DDA received 26 awards from IAFE in other categories, including agricultural, competitive exhibits, commercial exhibits and concessions and non-fair facility usage. Eight first-place awards were presented. It was the most the DDA has received from IAFE, exceeding last year’s total of 24.
“These awards reflect the passion and creativity that our team brings to everything we do to serve as a community gathering place during the Fair and year-round,” said Carlene Moore, chief executive officer of the 22nd DAA. “We are deeply honored to be recognized by our industry peers and proud to represent San Diego County on the international stage.”
IAFE’s award programs honor fairs and expositions worldwide for extraordinary accomplishments in marketing, communications, agriculture, exhibits, sponsorship and operational excellence. Entries are judged by expert panels on creativity, use of theme, production quality, resourcefulness and innovation. The 22nd DAA competes in a division with large fairs and venues similar in size and attendance.
Del Mar Fairgrounds operations are primarily funded by revenues generated by hosting events, including the fair, which is San Diego County’s largest annual event.
